An idea born in the Outback
The journey that led to Possum's Party started in 2021, though it wasn’t always clear that balloons and event planning would be the path we’d take. At that time, I was working for a small, family-owned balloon and event rental business in Australia. It was there that I discovered my love for creating beautiful, memorable moments through décor. Every day I spent at that boutique business, I was not just learning the ropes of balloon artistry, but also dreaming about one day bringing this passion back to the States. The idea of starting my own business started to form, fueled by the creative energy I saw in the Australian event scene and the knowledge I was gaining from working closely with clients.
While I was gaining hands-on experience, I also found myself thinking about how I could take this passion and build something unique in my own community—Canon City. I knew I wanted to combine my love for creativity with a deeper sense of purpose, and the thought of helping others celebrate life’s big moments became my driving force. By the time we returned to the U.S., the dream was already in motion. I wanted to build a business that wasn’t just about selling party supplies or balloons; it was about helping people create memories that would last a lifetime. And that’s how Possum's Party was born.
The name itself came naturally—a heartfelt tribute to our daughter, who had brought so much joy and energy into our lives. With her, every day felt like a celebration, and I wanted our business to reflect that same spirit. “Possum” felt like the perfect fit, not just because of our daughter’s nickname, but also because it symbolized the resourcefulness and adaptability that had defined our journey—from dairy farming in New Zealand to event planning in Australia. It’s a nod to our family’s roots and the adventures that shaped us, and it’s the heart of the business we’re building today: a place where every celebration is special, personal, and stress-free.
As we continue to grow, my vision for Possum's Party is to expand beyond just event planning and décor. I dream of creating a space where families, small businesses, and communities can come together to celebrate life’s moments in a way that’s both creative and meaningful.
